Although the second part is better known, the first sentence of the motto of Duke Živojin Mišić briefly describes his life. When you say duke, the first association people associate with Živojin Mišić is precisely Živojin Mišić, not only because of the greatness of his knowledge and ability to command, but because with him freedom was brought to the people and this has been passed down from generation to generation until today. Taking command of the First Army in the dramatic days of the Battle of Kolubara, General Živojin Mišić, making important decisions on his own, led the already fainting soldiers to the greatest victory of the Serbian army during the Great War. His maneuver is still studied at military schools today, and he was part of the liberating Thessaloniki operation in 1918. Thus, he entered history side by side with the greatest military leaders of that time, and Serbia awarded him the rank of duke and the highest decoration.
